This is in reply to
rutemple who asked me these questions. For more info, look at *her* journal.
1. Is ProDea still a happening thing and *how* long has it been going now?
We usually spell it Prodea, it's still happening - that's what I did Saturday night. We will sing down the Sun on the evening of Summer Solstice, Friday, June 20, at the Witches Hat Tower. We've being going since 1980; we count our birthday/anniversary as Fall Equinox, since that's the first holiday we celebrated. Nearly 23 years - wow!
2. What books are you reading now/on your list to read/recently read...
"A Shortcut Through Time", which is a book on quantum computing. This morning, I had to take back "Making Peace with The Things in Your Life", and can't remember the author. It has holds, and I put my name back on the list, because I wasn't really finished. It's about the psychology of clutter. Next book will probably be Patricia McKillip's latest, "In the Forrests of Serre". Oh, and I'm reading a book of erotica by Mary Ann Mohanraj that I bought at Wiscon, slowly, savoring it, yum.
3. Did you know Doc and Faun are on LJ and alive and well in Elk Grove Village, IL? (waves to the watersibs)
I knew they were alive and well in the Chicago area from their website - what are their LJ handles so I can put them on my Friends list?
4. What was the theme for this year's May Day parade/pageant in Powderhorn Park?
Gee, I can't remember, neither can Martin, and I don't know where the programs went to. Can I get back to you of this?
It was wonderful, as usual, even though it started to sprinkle during the Free Speech section. By coincidence, T-Roy and Rob bought a house at 31-- Bloomington, so I could go inside and sit down. Unfortunately HotB is having financial problems, due to funding cuts EVERYWHERE. For more info, their website is: http://www.heartofthebeasttheatre.org/home.html
5. If you could write the magnum opus of your life, what would it be called?
"What a long strange trip it's been!"
6. Open ritual - is that still important to you in creating community? what does that look like these days?
Yes, it's very important, but I'm not doing it right now. I'm concentrating most of my energy into the New Alexandria Library
http://www.magusbooks.com/newalexandria/ (the website is overdue for an update) and I'm getting involved in the 8th International Conference on Bisexuality, which will be in the Twin Cities in August 2004.(website under construction)
I really want to be involved with ritual that isn't aimed at newcomers and non-Pagans. There are so many of us who have been doing this for a while, you'd think we could do open or semi-open rituals that have more depth and meaning. COG and CUUPS and some others do open ritual, but I'm not involved. This is a big can of worms I don't want to try to describe right now.
Whew!

Somehow, I got the following fictious postcard:
Cousin Tom,
Went ashore at Halta yesterday. Met my first aliens. First time I was ever screwed by my female partner. Do you think that this kind of inter-species sex is considered beastiality?
Your cousin,
Jamey

Date: 2003-06-05 10:08 pm (UTC)glad to see reconnects...
I'm remembering those lovely folks from Wisconsin who put on the symposia down in SW Wisconsin; now that was some more in-depth ritualizing and community-building.
I had stumbled across the new alexandria, and was delighted to see it a happening thing.
One could always slip Katie a LJ code, slyly...
