Got in from Wiscon about 3 or 4 hours ago. After the unloading and unpacking, and all the immediate chores, I finally have a little breathing room.

I checked e-mail a few times during the weekend, just to make sure nothing urgent had come up, and to delete spam lest it drown me. But I neither read or wrote LJ. It's so interesting to see other peoples' reactions.

[livejournal.com profile] elisem's haiku party was certainly one of the high points for me. I rediscovered the form. I wrote four that night, and one just now, and I feel like they may keep coming. I don't know what to do except scribble them down, quick, like catching crickets.

If it's not too pretentious, you can read them

I chose a pair of earrings, and [livejournal.com profile] elisem's gave me the name, "Dresden Goddess". Which was very easy for me...
Delicate Goddess
On the shelf of my bedroom
My grandmother's soul.
...because my grandmother collected Dresden china. I remember it very well.

Next came...
Earrings row on row
Fragments of inspiration
On a plain table

Then one that wasn't a haiku...
Glass Holds possibilities
Hollow bulbs contain light
Dark and tall filled with wine
Windows flat and clear
Round and colored beads
Lenses make clear the hidden
Precious melted sand

Then another one I can't remember, and can't find the slip of paper I put it on.

A little while ago, as I struggled to put the last things away, despite a cat who was being VERY demanding...
Dead flowers in vase
The cat aches to be petted
Is Wiscon too long?
