Character of the day: Ged, of "A Wizard in Earthsea" and subsequent books. Learned more about magic and the nature of Nature from this book than any other I can think of.
A character who I first encountered in a highly abridged (or maybe just rewritten) audio cassette of The Tombs of Atuan. Only in the last two years did I learn that the story I heard as a child is maybe 10% of that book.
