I am hoping I can post something in bits and pieces from work, since right now no one is actually watching me. I have had NO time at home.
I'd forgotten how much full time work soaks up EVERY BIT OF TIME AND ENERGY. I spent the weekend doing chores and trying, unsuccessfully, to recharge.
I hate this job already, and I've only been here 4 days. Last night I was cursing myself for even applying for a full-time job. But I need the money and benefits. I keep telling myself, a few years, and then, maybe I can really retire, and write.
I did get ot the Gnostic Mass on Saturday, but it was so hot and sticky I didn't really get as much out of it as usual. Rocky Horror Picture Show at midnight was actually more rewarding. That movie is my touchstone, and it is so fun to watch Robin's enthusiasm.
I need to schedule time for myself alone, and time for Martin and myself. This weekend, I got very little of either.
And in case anyone is wondering why I am working - Hamline University does not observe Labor Day as a holiday. Classes start Wednesday, so some staff need to work today to get ready, I guess. Since I'm new, I have no floating holiday or vacation time to use. There is no union, though benefits are, on the whole, much better than Minneapolis Public Library, with a union.
The walls are closing in.....
