Yeah. I absolutely hate debit cards and won't carry one (I know too many people who've had their debit card stolen and their checking account emptied before they were able to reach their bank; yeah, they will put the money back eventually, but in the meantime, every other check / auto-pay payment bounced, creating a nightmare of cascading fees.) And most places these days won't even take checks.
Honestly, I expect the stores I shop at to cover credit card fees as a cost of doing business. If coffee shops want to charge a fee, especially on small transactions, that's fine, because that's small enough to be a reasonable cash transaction. On the other hand, if I'm grocery shopping and spending $150 to $200 (typical in a weekly trip, since there are four of us and we eat a lot!) I want to be able to put that on a credit card. If Cub starts charging me a fee, then fuck them, I will shop at Rainbow instead. I am hoping that for the bulk of stores there will be massive consumer backlash if they try to charge us for our credit card purchases.
